Salary negotiation is flexible and complex.

The salary range of a governess will depend on:

Currently the hourly rate for childcare services fluctuates between R30-00 and R70-00+ (per hour), depending on the above-mentioned factors.

Should a candidate use her/his own car for the family’s benefit, she/he would be compensated between R1-80 and R2-20 per km.

Full-day

A full-time governess, working approximately 9 hours per day, earns a monthly salary ranging from R 4,500.00 to R 9,000.00 per month.

Half-day

On a Mornings-only or Afternoons-only basis, the governess may earn approximately R 2,500.00 – R 3,500+ per month
